Jewelry is made unique and eye-catching by the creative use of gems, stones, jewellery beads, and all manner of precious materials. In figuring out inventive ways of incorporating such items, rubber, chains, and wire-wrapping techniques can all be used to great effect. No matter what method is used, however, a final connecting piece is required to provide the coup de grace, completing the necklace, bracelet, or earring as the case may be. Clasps, rings, hooks, pins, caps and charms all work to this end, and should be chosen to fit the feel of the jewellery piece in question. Gold vermeil achieves a different kind of sophistication without the soft consistency and high price of pure gold, and gold-filled chains offer the radiant visual effect of high purity with no risk of tarnish over time.
